TiVo CEO Switches to Mac

Om Malik is covering the DEMO conference, and interviewed Michael Ramsey, TiVo CEO:

But the best part of the conversation was when we started chatting about Apple. Ramsey said a few months ago he switched - sick and tired of the problems with Windows - he went and bought a PowerBook, and now he has added a G5 to his list of computers. Well, this resulted in his company IT department thinking different as well!

Like others I think TiVo is in trouble. With DirectTV and cable TV companies rolling out their own PVR’s and the growing popularity of HTPC’s (Home Theater PC’s) they could be in real trouble. Perhaps they will notice the lack of much competition in the Mac market for HTPC solutions and decide to try their hand there. The TiVo name alone would give them a bit of an edge over El Gato’s EyeTV and BeyondTV and Windows MCE if they did something for the Windows platform as well.
